People who utilize tanning beds will often get tired of going to a salon or spa to use the service.  When this happens, they will often look for a home tanning bed that they can keep in a spare bedroom or garage of the home so that they can tan whenever they want to do so.  Buying a used tanning bed sometimes seems like a good option since new tanning beds can be very expensive.  However, the technology in tanning beds has changed rapidly through the years, so when buying a used tanning bed, it is important to do some research first to make sure that parts are still available and that the bulbs that are used have the least amount of UVB rays in them as possible.  New beds in the conventional style will cost about fifteen hundred dollars on the bottom end of the pricing scale, so the used tanning beds should not cost more than that in most cases.  The high pressure beds will cost ten thousand dollars on the bottom end of the market, so a used tanning bed in that style should not cost more than that in most cases.

When buying a used tanning bed, there are certain things to know about the bed before the purchase.  Often the used tanning beds will come from a salon that has gone out of business.  When that is the case, the used tanning beds may not be in the best condition since the business probably did not have the money to properly care for the beds.  It is a good idea to have the beds checked out before purchasing to see what might have to be fixed so that the bed is safe to use over a long period of time.  In addition, the tanning lamps that are in the beds will usually have to be replaced, so that will add to the cost of the purchase of the bed itself.

Another tip for buying a used tanning bed is to make sure that the salon did not lease the bed in the first place.  It would not be a good idea to get into a situation where the buyer is taking over the lease on the bed.  The shocks of the bed should also be checked to make sure they are in good working condition and the acrylics should also be checked to make sure that they are in good condition too.  When buying a used tanning bed, the number of lamps that are in the bed will make a difference in the price.  There are some twenty bulb tanning beds that cost a little under seven hundred dollars.  There are other thirty bulb used tanning bed that costs a little under thirteen hundred dollars.
